Hip hop radio stations are incredibly popular. However, not every lofi study station is as good as Sway and King Tech's Wake Up Show (the nationally syndicated hit program featuring the most popular rappers out there today). Here's a guide of the most popular rap radio stations out there...
Hot97. Arguably the most listened to rap station today, this long standing musical favorite has had a number of controversial run ins with artists such as 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige (all of which have improved their overall ratings). Hot 97 remains the perennial favorite for mainstream hip hop heads.
Power 105. Despite its initial fame as a soft rock, Power 105 reinvented itself as a premier hip hop provider. This rap station delivers hip hop material every day, with a strong focus on pop hits featuring rap artists such Lil' Wayne, Eminem and T.I.
Power106. Perhaps the most authoritative radio station in hip hop. Power 106 offers the definitive versions of rap in the industry today, such as Eminem, Outkast, Nas, Jay-Z and 50 Cent, as well as up and coming rap music superstars like Fabolous, Drake and Flo Rida (one of my favorite rising stars). Of all the hip hop radio stations, this is perhaps the most successful, both critically and commercially.
